with the B&O from Chicago to Washington DC
The Baltimore and Ohio's prestige Capitol Limited is seen departing Chicago's former Grand Central Station at the beginning of its approximately 760 mile (1224 km) run to Washington DC behind EMD E8's in 1967. Four years later the run was taken over by Amtrak which still operates it today, although with a schedule through Cleveland rather than Akron, Ohio. The B&O was the first railroad to introduce air conditioning on its trains, beginning with the Columbian in 1931, followed by the Capitol Limited on 22 May 1932, well ahead of its competitors.
