the old Clyde street bridge, Otago

This was opened in 1881 and was replaced with a bridge with much more capacity in 1934.  A similar bridge was built at Alexandra, also over the Clutha, not far away, likewise replaced - see earlier post and the book Bridges of New Zealand.
