Deutsche Bundesbahn VT08 diesel multiple unit, West Germany

This is a still from the movie Das Wunder von Bern right at the end, based on Germany's win in the 1954 World Cup for soccer, but as experienced through the eyes of a young fan whose father has recently returned from a Russian Prisoner of War camp (following Stalin's death in 1953) and it provides a good insight into West German life at that time.

The whole area was given a big makeover in the late 1980s and the lawn terraces in the left and centre are now occupied by a curved council building and the library was built in the area on the right.

Malaysian tram stamps, 2015

The last picture is of a locomotive-hauled train, not actually a DMU, however, it could be of the push-pull type where there is a driving cab at the end of the last car which is used when travelling in the opposite direction.  These are common in Europe.

IVS 'Phinda' loading logs in Picton NZ

Seen last week. Quite a few IVS bulk carriers visit NZ. Most are named after birds, so presumably phinda is a type of bird.

More photos of this 180 metre long, 23,224 grt ship from 2014 are here
