Jersey Central Lines Baldwin diesel, mid-1940s

a diagram in a different livery on www.trainweb.org

One of the DRX class of which only six units were manufactured by Baldwin for the Central Railroad of New Jersey. This design was typical of British and European double-ended diesels of the post-WW2 era, whereas American thinking was to have two coupled single-cab units, one facing each direction, which could be supplemented by cabless B units coupled in-between as needed. These units were rated at 2000 hp and were delivered over 1946-1948.
