Genova cog railway, Italy
Genova has three railway lines that climb from the city area up the hills behind, two funiculars and a cog railway:
1. Zecca - Righi. The longest and the one with the best views of the city at the top. The line is 1428 metres long of which the lower 700 metres are in a tunnel. The total rise is 279 metres.
2. Sant'Anna, Piazza Portello - Corso Magenta. This is the smaller funicular; 357 meters long with a rise of 54 metres. The walk back down leads besides a beautiful park next to Piazzo Portello.
3. Principe - Granarolo. The cog railway, above, seen in 1968 in green car livery and recently. The route is 1136 metres long with a rise of 194 metres. The lower station is at Piazza B. Principe, near the central FS station Genova-Principe and the Metro.
