East Somerset, England recreates a GWR branch line theme for their Spring Gala

 A new video from yesterday--

Description:
All the action from Sunday spent at the East Somerset Railway for their Spring Gala! This event featured visiting traction, with a rare appearance of 1940 built GWR Diesel Railcar No. 22 courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre.

These early diesel units served the Strawberry line from the 1940s and were seen on local services through Cranmore.

Also visiting was GWR Pannier 7754 courtesy of Llangollen Railway which is another GWR locomotive that was regularly seen on the line during the 1940s.

The gala also saw current GWR resident Prairie's 4110 and 4555 in action + Andrew Barclay Works No 1719 No 2 Lady Nan 0-4-0ST in action in the yard at Cranmore, with a comprehensive timetable in operation including double heading, freight trains and more, and the weekend has drawn record crowds which is encouraging for the heritage railway, which has lots of exciting plans in the pipeline for the year ahead! | 15.03.2026
