From the airport-world.com site last Friday:
Phase one of construction of the new US$1.5 billion Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is now complete. The long-awaited terminal is now open and equipped with the latest technology, 18 new gates, a great hall and more than 60 shops and places to dine.
The milestone of the project marks the completion of phase 1, which started in February 2010 and encompasses the north and south concourses.
These include nine boarding gates that can accommodate larger, new-generation (Group VI) aircraft like the Airbus A-380 and Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental.
Austin Commercial, with its joint venture partner managed the preconstruction and construction of the terminal over four years working nearly 6.5 million man-hours, achieving Cal-OSHA's SHARP (Safety and Health Award Recognition Program) Certification.
John Duval, Austin's national aviation director, says: “It was quite an extraordinary effort from all those involved to construct such a complex structure within the LAX operating airport."
