At least in NZ, there is still no announcement of a US release date for it. It is based on the Thailand-Burma 'Railway of Death' force-built by the Japanese in WW2 using local and POW slave labor. The major movie about it everyone knows is Bridge on the River Kwai made in 1957 (see earlier post) but while a good movie, that bore little resemblance to the reality - this should be different.
