Burns Philp Pacific islands tours poster, 1938

The Bulolo steams past a low-lying tropical terrain with huts; mountains in the background. This was a 6,397 GRT, 240 passenger liner built by Barclay Curle & Co. in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Bulolo commenced the regular six weekly service between Australia, Papua and New Guinea ports on 19 November 1938.  Like nearly all passenger liners she was converted for naval service in September 1939; eventually returned to Burns Philp in 1947.  She was finally sold in 1968 to Taiwan shipbreakers.
