This railway station from French colonial days was designed in a 'néo-mauresque' style by architect Albert Ballu and built by the enterprise of the Perret Brothers. It incorporates elements from the three main religions of the Middle East: its exterior aspect is that of a mosque, where the clock tower has the appearance of a minaret; the grills of the doors windows and ceiling of the qoubba (dome) have the Star of David; while interior paintings of the ceilings have Christian beliefs.
