Chevrolet truck converted to run on methane gas, Sydney, 1942

It was probably coal gas rather than natural gas. This was one of 800 trucks converted to gas to beat wartime petrol rationing. The conversion came with warnings about exceeding 30 mph (50 km/h) as the bag might flap and tear. (State Library of NSW)
