On the point of this double-stack container train traversing Shawmut, Arizona in the early 1990s. A modification of the GP39, 239 examples of this Bo-Bo type were built for American railroads between 1974 and 1984. Prime mover was an EMD 645E3 V 12 rated at 2,300 hp.
Only one example, CSX 4317, former Reading Company 3412, is preserved -- at the Reading Company Technical and Historical Society in Hamburg, Pennsylvania.
