the Zillertalbahn, Austria
The Zillertalbahn is a 760 mm (2 ft 6 in) gauge private railway which since 1902 has run 31.7 along the Zillertal (Ziller valley) from Jenbach to Mayrhofen within the Tyrol area. Most trains use modern diesel locomotives and railcars, but the railway also has several steam locomotives which are used with heritage veranda cars for special tourist trains. There is also goods traffic where standard gauge goods wagons are carried on transporter wagons.
In Jenbach the Zillertalbahn meets the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) standard gauge line between Salzburg and Innsbruck and the metre gauge Achenseebahn. Jenbach is the only location in Austria where railways with three different gauges meet. Some of the Zillertalbahn's redundant rolling stock has been donated to the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway in the UK. Multilingual website
