As mentioned in a previous post, the New York Central had three electric divisions. The one in New York was was opened in 1906 to eliminate the smoke problem when the Grand Central Terminal was built and the track put underground. 100, Class S-1, was built by Alco-General Electric in October 1904. Although a third-rail electric switcher it had two tiny pantographs to bridge the third rail gap when switching from one track to another.
Apparently it was donated for museum display in 1967 but its current condition isn't encouraging - a quite recent photo here
