As those who have our books know, Inangahua Junction on NZ's South Island West Coast would have been where the railway being built from Nelson to the south would have linked up with the line being built from Greymouth to Westport - but the former was never completed. Inangahua Junction wasn't named optimistically in expection, but simply because it is the junction of two rivers. The 'junction' tends to be omitted these days. The postcard from the 1900s shows a couple of horse drawn coaches, one outside what is probably the local store. Map

I was wondering if you could tell me where you obtained this postcard of Inangahua Junction. My family lived here for many years and ran a boarding house, the post office and a farm/grazing, until the Newmans coaches were replaced by "service cars".

We traded in postcards for about 10 years; nearly all the NZ ones have now been sold. There are dealers in stamps and the like, or it may come up from time to time on trademe. Glad you like our blog.
