Czechoslovak railcar, 1936

The CSD (Czechoslovak State Railways) railcar class M 290.0, with a (1-A)-(A-1) axle arrangement was manufactured in a series of only two units by Tatra Kopřivnice in 1936 and used on the newly introduced express train Slovenská strela between Praha (Prague) and Bratislava starting in 1936. They covered the distance in 4 hours and 28 minutes with a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Both were taken out of service when WW2 started. After it, they were only occasionally deployed on local routes.

M290.001 was taken out of service in 1953 and M290.002 in 1960. M290.002 is now on display in the Tatra company museum in Kopřivnice; M 290.001 did not survive. Pics from dieselpunks.org where there are more.
