Sweden's black locomotives


The sort of livery you might expect from Air New Zealand if they ran the railways (see the post about Air NZ's new "All Black" livery).

Originally Sweden's Statens Järnvägar or SJ's Rc locomotives, which first appeared in 1967 and of which 360 were built till 1988, appeared in an orange livery with white stripes; later this was changed to a mostly blue with red stripes scheme, and most recently as in the photo above taken at Falun.

With a bit of modification SJ has retained the winged wheel logo that it has had for many years, for example as can be seen on the old station at Gävle, (which has been replaced with a more recent station 600 metres or so  to the north).
