the Téléphérique du Brévent

Another Roger Broders poster for the PLM, this features the Téléphérique du Brévent in Chamonix. This French alpine resort town has one of the highest cable cars in the world, which links the town to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi at 3,842 metres.

On the other side of the valley, another cable car links Chamonix to the viewpoint of Planpraz. This cable car, originally a téléphérique built in 1920, was upgraded to a télécabine in 1979 and upgraded again in 2008. A second system, an aerial cableway or téléphérique links Planpraz to the summit of Le Brévent at 2,525 metres.  We are thus not sure why the poster states the altitude to be 2,000 metres - there is a bit of a difference!

Nor are we sure why it is stated as a funiculaire, which means a railway-type system where the cars are pulled by a cable, when it is obviously a téléphérique.

And we are not sure why there are two versions of the poster in different coloring!

The view of the summit of Le Brévent is from wikimedia.
