If they look like German class 50/52 Kriegsloks that's because they are -- the Czechoslovak ČSD Class 555.1 steam locomotives were German-built
Kriegslokomotiven (war locomotives) that remained in Czechoslovakia after World War II, used by the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for heavy freight service. Known colloquially as "Němka" (German woman), many were later fitted with Giesl ejectors for improved efficiency.
Initially, 185 locomotives of the 50 class remained in Czechoslovakia after 1945. An additional 100 locomotives were purchased from the Soviet Union (SZD) between 1962 and 1963.
This scene is from a recent excursion.
