With a similar appearnce to the DR class 52, a total 510 of these were produced between 1951 and 1958 and were used between 1951 and 1982 on freight trains, and occasionally passenger trains. They were not only the last new steam class built for CSD (Ceskoslovenské Státni Dráhi) but were the last steam locos to see service in Czechoslovakia.
