trams on Kent Terrace, Wellington, circa 1924

The De Luxe theatre at left was opened in 1924; it still stands as a cinema. No tram tracks were laid along Cambridge Terrace at right.  It's not clear what that little phone-booth-like structure was for -- a shelter for traffic policemen in wet weather?

For lots more see the books Wellington: a capital century and Wellington Transport Memories.
