former Tasmanian Government Railways DP railmotor

Presumably DP stood for 'diesel passenger', although the early examples of the 27 members of the class -- built 1937-1950 -- were petrol (gasoline) powered. Builders were Drewry, the TGR, Waddingtons and Commonwealth Engineering, a.k.a Comeng.  DP 22 from 1944 of the Don River Railway is one of 8 preserved examples.  Info
