I think this one is more likely just pre WW2 - maybe circa 1940. There is a new street view pic on line - https://www.google.co.nz/maps/place/%22243+high+street+christchurch%22/@-43.5333208,172.6384234,3a,75y,180h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1cBYWIR0vmzsm68QHOnfeg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x6e5a3a6b08f9da8f!6m1!1e1 - still remaining is the remnants of the Ashby Bergh's building, without its facia. Where McKenzies was is a more modern building but the next one past it can be seen in the 1940 view.
