Tony Abbot out, Malcolm Turnbull in as Australian PM

'Roll the country's leader' has been a popular maneuver in Australian politics in the last 5 years. After decades of stability under Fraser, Hawke, Keating and Howard, the last two governments have changed PM with regularity.

Tony Abbot won the election two years ago on a 'get tough on illegal migrants, send the boat people away' policy, but commentators give unfairness in the 2014 Federal budget as the reason for his decline in popularity.

Last night the government caucus voted 54-44 to replace him with Malcolm Turnbull.  Deputy PM Julie Bishop keeps her position.

Malcolm Turnbull is a supporter of action on climate change, unlike Tony Abbot who is a climate change denier.
