Over the river Sola. This is another still from Shoah. Auschwitz was the name the Germans gave to the Polish town of Oswiecim, but from 1945 has solely been a reference to the nearby concentration camps: Auschwitz I, Auschwitz-Birkenau (Brzezinka) and Ausschwitz-Monowitz.

The approximately 600-metre railway connection the Germans built into the Birkenau camp from the line a little south of Oswiecim station is still easily traceable, even though a little of it has been paved over where it crosses a couple of streets and someone's driveway.
