buses drive off the Auckland Harbour Bridge, late 1960s


This would date from not long after the 'Nippon Clip-ons'  were added to increase the bridge's carrying capacity from 4 to 8 lanes.  As it was only 6 years old at the time the decision was made to add them, you may wonder why they didn't think to build that many lanes to start with.
