Staying with this town, the explosion which rocked it in the early hours of 7 August 1959 was impressive even by today's Muslim terrorist standards. A truck laden with 6 tons of explosives was parked next to a building which caught fire and set the truck ablaze. The blast wrecked several blocks and caused 14 deaths with 125 injured.
