According to the lists on railfaneurope.net, while the 55 class designation was allocated for EMU sets, there has been only one, introduced in 1990 as a prototype and now withdrawn. Some second-hand SNCF electric multiple units have been recently acquired.
The stamp illustration description says it is a 4000 hp diesel-electric set.
