by train through Kim Jong-Il Land

As the world's last Stalinist Big Brother state which shuts its people away from other countries and indoctrinates them instead in aggression against South Korea, Japan and America, North Korea attracts a lot of attention nowadays.

The pic is from this blog of a guy who travelled by train the 13,000 km from Vienna to Pyongyang: adventurous in itself, but the most unusual part was through the land of "The Dear Leader" Kim Jong-Il.

North Korea has a network of 5,200 km track with 4,500 km in standard gauge. There is a small narrow gauge railway in operation in Haeju peninsula. Approximately two thirds of the system is electrified (3 kV DC).
