You wonder if there actually were races like those depicted: what if one plane caught up to another?  The "Veiled Prophet" reference is a local tradition dating back to 1878. "Each December, St. Louis’s prominent members of society gather at the Veiled Prophet Ball, a venue for introducing young ladies, generally in their sophomore year of college, to the St. Louis Community."

Date uncertain but post-WW2.  The main line from Biarritz to Hendaye runs close to the coast but the opportunities for a view like this are fairly limited; at a place called Guéthary and a glimpse or two at St-Jean-de-Luz...

A TransAustralia Airlines or TAA announcement of new hostess uniforms presumably in or close to 1970. Unfortunately the pic was b/w so the colors aren't evident but it suggests there was an assortment. TAA was formed in 1946, renamed Australian Airlines in 1986 and bought by Qantas in September 1992
