Silver Stream Railway is open again this Sunday 5 July, featuring steam train rides alongside the iconic Silverstream Spur Reserve, behind our Barclay steam locomotive #1749. This loco was used to construct and rebuild railway lines in the North Island for the Public Works Department and New Zealand Railways before it was retired and saved by Sir Len Southward. Ride in the open wagon (the open wagon will be substituted for an enclosed guards van in poor weather) and step back in time to when the loco was working to build some of New Zealand's important infrastructure.
We open at 11 am regardless of weather, with rides running on demand through out the day. Entry tickets allow as many rides as you want on the day of issue. The last train leaves at approximately 3:45 pm.
For more information on where to find us, ticket prices, and information about the railway and the historic items that call it home, please check out our website www.silverstreamrailway.org.nz
Our next operating day will be 2 August.
