The gondola began operating in late 1968 and takes skiers to the top of Mt Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont. The gondola route is stated to be 2.6 miles (4.2 km) long with a vertical altitude difference of 803.6 ft (245 metres). Mt Mansfield is 4,395 feet (1,349 metres) above sea level.
