The Vallés line of the Ferrocarriles de Catalunya (currently FGC) had these EMU sets dating from 1944 nicknamed "granotes" (frogs), probably because of their livery and especially their "eyes" at roof level. In 1998 due to the acquisition of the new material of the 111 series and later the 112, FGC sold them to the Cuban electric railways for the line Havana-Hershey-Matanzas and branches that had the same track gauge (1435 mm) and the same power supply of 1200 volts DC. One set of three cars is preserved as a heritage train.
