A total 127 of this Co-Co hood unit road switcher known as Train Masters were produced by
Fairbanks-Morse and its Canadian licensee, the Canadian Locomotive Company, between 1953 and 1957. They were powered by a 12-cylinder opposed piston two-stroke diesel engine which produced 2,400 hp.
Canadian Pacific acquired 1 from Fairbanks-Morse and another 20 from the CLCo. Only one is preserved.
