Dutch Mat '46 electric railcars

A photo showing the original livery of the sets ordered in 1946. Later this was changed by replacing the red patches with green and painting yellow 'whiskers' at the headlights level which gave them the nickname "mouse noses".

The 79 two-car sets (there were also 65 four-car sets) had a Bo-2-Bo axle arrangement, an output of 796 kW (1,066 hp), a length over buffers of 44.7 metres, a service weight of 89 tonnes and a top speed of 125 km/h. There were 24 first class seats, 80 second class and 21 seats that could fold up.

They were finally withdrawn from service in 1983. Set 273 is preserved operational in the collection of the Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht.
