from the days when Canterbury had branch lines


Another map produced at the same time as the one showing Dunedin to Bluff (see earlier).  How many of them are left today?  None, apart from an industrial spur or two.  The Midland Line still branches off at Rolleston Junction, but the Whitecliffs branch from it is long gone.  The 14 km from Waipara to Waikari is now the Weka Pass Railway museum operation, the first couple of km of the Mt Somers branch is today the Tinwald museum, and there is about 1 km of track at Pleasant Point for the museum there.
