Rail bosses have ordered trains to run slower than usual for fear of rails buckling during the hot weather.
First Great Western has cancelled fast trains from Paddington to Bourne End, Buckinghamshire and Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
Network Rail said if the track buckled it would mean shutting the line for repairs, "causing considerable disruption".
Temperatures in the capital are set to hit 30 Celsius [86F] today on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year -- until tomorrow, when London could hit 33C [91F].
