Iconic in the sense that certain British TV shows, in particular Mr Bean and Only Fools and Horses, liked to make fun of it. This was introduced in 1953 and as a three-wheeled vehicle, under UK licensing it was considered a tricycle. Due to the lightweight construction using wood and aluminium (as from 1956, fibreglass, in 1962 a steel chassis), it was also cheap. The engine was initially a 747 cc side valve, in 1962 a 600 cc aluminium overhead valve engine that produced 25 hp replaced it. In August 1968, the 701 cc engine introduced in the Reliant Rebel in autumn 1967 was put into the Regal. In 1973, the Reliant Regal was replaced by the Reliant Robin
