New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad ALCO DL-109, 1940s

This was a 337,000 lb (153 tonne) 2000 hp from a turbocharged ALCo 539T prime mover, A1A-A1A type diesel electric intended for both passenger and freight trains and all A cabbed units were equipped with steam generators.  A total of 74 cabbed versions plus four cabless B units of this model were built by ALCo between December 1939 and April 1945, and the  New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad's 60 units were built 1942-1945: thus totally a WW2 era locomotive.
