Memel Hafen, East Prussia, 1930s

The port city of Memel was for a long time in East Prussia, Germany. After 1919 it and the surrounding area known as Memelland was given to Lithuania and the city became known as Klaipėda. Hitler wanted it back and got it, but after 1945 it returned to Lithuania.  It is the country's main port and the country's third biggest city.  See earlier posts.
