This 750 mm gauge "y" shaped system beginning at Zittau in the south-east of Germany has been operated to the present time by former DDR steam locos and one of four 750 mm gauge diesel railcars built in Germany in 1938 intended as a more economc exploitation of narrow gauge lines.  The beginning of WW2 hindered further development and only the four stayed in Zittau.  In 1943 the Wehrmacht took three of them, leaving only this one, 137 322, in Zittau.  In DDR times it was used for passenger services in low traffic periods.  The other three went to the PKP of Poland in 1945.

It was restored for the present day museum operation over these lines in 2007. (Geoff Churchman pics)
