Today, Kosice (roughly pronounced "Kosh-itsa") with a population of 245,000 is the second largest city in Slovakia after Bratislava. However, before WW1 it was part of Hungary and pre-WW1 postcards carry the Hungarian name of Kassa, sometimes the German name of Kaschau.
