motor vessel Guardian Carrier

It may look as if the ship has run ashore, but as those who have the book New Zealand Maritime Images: the Golden Years know, this is how the approach to some ports around NZ appears.  For more such scenes, see the book.

This ship was built in 1953 as Ethel Everard, a general cargo ship; in 1963 converted to a cement carrier and renamed Guardian Carrier. In 1977 the ship was sold again and renamed Robert Koch.

The ship was eventually wrecked off Oswego, New York at the end of 1985.
