Air NZ DC-10 on a Pacific island

A promotional postcard issued at the time Air New Zealand acquired its DC-10 series 30 - the actual location of this scene wasn't specified. For details, see the book The Aircraft of Air NZ and affiliates since 1940 by Paul Sheehan.

That's Rarotonga. I landed there between Honolulu and Auckland in the 70s. My first flight on my own between LA and Brisbane. A native island tribe welcomed our bid flying bird like a God with wings. Waiting for us like a pre historic tribe from the movie King Kong. The sweet smell of flowers emotions and deisal fuel filled the air like caramel as we walked into the runway passing the huge engine, I felt this discovery is from began.
I realised fully why the airline was regarded back at LAX as the world's most exotic international Airlines of r would. that the airline LAX , Air New Zealand DC-10 was definitely respected as the world's most exotic airline. A privalge of experience in time, A true apex of international flight ✈️
