In 1959 Dodge introduced the "Sweptline", a reference to the fancy tailfins of the
Sweptside being eliminated which gave customers a large square bed
that was the full length of the cab. The 1959 Sweptline introduced the
318 cubic inch (5.2 litres) V8 (Big Block) engine. 1960 Sweptline models were nearly identical to
the 1959s. Despite these changes the sales performance of Dodges at this time was poor.
