The Crusader was considered one of the fastest of the Shaw Savill ships. She was built by Connell of Glasgow and launched in March 1865. Measurements: 1,058 tons net, 210.7 ft (64.2 metres) length, 35.1 ft (10.7 metres) breadth, 21.4ft (6.5 metres) depth.
In 1878 she made a passage lasting 65 days from London to Port Chalmers. She was eventually sold to the Norwegians.
