the Aranda, Shaw Savill & Albion

A photo that was considered for, but not used in the book New Zealand Maritime Images: the Golden Years, showing the Shaw, Savill and Albion line's ship Aranda in Wellington harbour, circa 1970.

The SS&A shipping line lasted from 1914 to 1975.

The ship was 20,362 gross register tons as built in 1960 in Belfast for the Royal Mail Line and named Aragon. In 1967 it was modified with a new tonnage of 18,575 grt.  In 1969 she was transferred to SS&A renamed Aranda and entered Southampton, Australia - New Zealand service. In 1971 she was sold to Leif Hoegh of Oslo,  renamed Hoegh Traveller and converted to car transporter with a new tonnage of 10,912 grt. In 1977 she was sold to Liberian owners, renamed Hual Traveller, in 1981 to simply Traveller, and scrapped later that year.

There was a sister ship named Arawa in SS&A ownership which had the same career.
