It wasn't only the East Germans who made weird little cars; they were made in the West too. One was the Goggomobil, made in Bavaria by Glas GmbH from 1955 to 1966 and then BMW to 1969. No less than 214,313 sedans had been built when production ended on 30 June 1969.
Some of the claims made in the second advertisement are almost funny: "hohe Reisegeschwindigkeit" (high travel speed) "hervorragende Strassenlage" (good road-holding) "Wir vier haben bequem Platz" (we four have comfortable space). Yeah, right.
