A passenger train from Te Aro station is shown hauled by an R class single Fairlie as well as ships and horses and carts/cabs.  It doesn't show the Wellington Harbour Board Offices building at left -- this was built in 1896.  An acrylic painting by Roly Hermans.

Fiat railcars in Nyasaland (now Malawi), l950s


These actually were soulmates of NZR's Fiat railcars of the same era as they were built by the same people -- bodies by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company via the Drewry sales company and flat underfloor Fiat engines, and for cape gauge. For more see our books.
