third rail power on the Ligne de la Maurienne, circa 1930, France

One of 10 of the articulated ex-PLM 161 BE class, later SNCF class 3600, on the former 1500 Volt DC third rail line from Chambéry to Modane.  These dated from 1928, had a 1AB+BA1 axle arrangement, a power output of 3510 kW and a top speed of 80 km/h.  They were withdrawn by 1972. See earlier posts.
